Amazing hostel. Very welcoming and warm staff and super sweet owners who go above and beyond to accommodate the guests and really make the place feel like home. As a solo female traveller, I really appreciated that they called to check on me when they saw I hadn't come back late one night. Yoga classes are also offered in the morning as part of the stay, which are a great way to start the day, and Prajin, the yoga instructor, is really great. Everything is impeccably clean and the property is very comfortable to work from as well as chill in. The good vibe that the owners create also attracts very friendly travellers and creates a comfortable environment to get to know people. It was really a great experience, If you go to Varkala you must stay here! ~ Jai S

Pure love & care House n dorms 💕 Whenever someone ask me about Varkala, I will always have Taaraa Loca in my mind at first. This place actually became my home for 3 weeks... Everything that I needed (and even more) I've found there. Deliscious homemade breakfast every morning 🥰 Puuja ceremony every evening 😊 with teaching how to prepare prasad👌🏼Calm and quite library with terrace and view on the sky 🌌 Yoga lessons with amazing teacher Prajin 🙏🏼😇 always finished with meditation and good start of the day 🌞🌿 Fruits and plants growing around 😊🌱🥭 Safe, calm and cozy place with good location 👌🏼 (it's not in the centre so it's perfect area for the peacefull time) And the owners - Sonam and Sagar - with big hearts and beautiful souls 🥺 Always smiled and helpfull in everything 💞 I'm very grateful that Universe guide me there 🙏🏼✨ ~ Celina K

This hostel is honestly one of the best hostels I have ever seen. In fact, I wouldn’t even call it a hostel — it truly feels like a home. The entire place is very hygienic, neat, and always clean, which gives such positive and peaceful vibes. The food here is absolutely amazing and feels just like homemade food. You will never feel like eating outside because the taste and quality are that good. Also, all the people here are extremely kind and caring, especially the owners and the chichies. I cannot recommend Taaraaa Loca enough! From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the hospitality. When taxis were overcharging at the airport, the owner personally came to pick us up—a gesture that set the tone for our entire stay. The owners are truly the most humble, heartwarming, and polite people I have ever met. Their kindness is matched by their phenomenal staff, who made us feel completely at home. It’s the best hotel I have ever been to in or out of India. I was time bounded but If I would have time I would have definitely stayed extra days. The owner and all the staffs are very friendly, welcoming and helpful. They provide complimentary pickup but the owner also dropped me to station without taking any extra charges because we were getting late. He arranged scooty for us within minutes so we can explore Varkala hassle free. Also they have complimentary yoga sessions which helps ease ur mind and body - a great start for morning. While a small conversation with owner on breakfast table which was also complimentary, I just casually told him about my plans for my birthday which was next day. He went all the way to bakery to get cake in evening and even got his staff and other housemates to celebrate my birthday. It was so unexpected as my birthday was not even on that day and that too I had already checked out in morning. It was such a pleasant surprise. Getting this kinda warmth by any hotel staff is rare. I would definitely come to Varkala again just to sit and relax in this hotel which feels like home more than just a hotel. ~ Akanksha S

We had a fantastic stay here. The best accommodation we have had so far in India. Everything was very clean and well presented. We attended the morning daily yoga, which was very well run by a experienced professional. The free breakfast which was included in the price was also exceptional every morning. I stayed for 14 nights at Taaraa loca in Varkala, and it turned out to be one of the most beautiful stays I’ve had in my life time Taara loca is exceptionally well maintained, thoughtfully equipped, and filled with warmth. The owners, Mr. Sagar and Sonam Madam, are among the most welcoming and kind-hearted hosts I’ve ever met. From the very first day, the place felt like home. They don’t just host guests, they genuinely care, listen, and go out of their way to make sure everything is perfectly sorted. The complimentary pickup from the railway station or bus stand is a wonderful touch and sets the tone for the experience. Every small need is heard and handled with care. A special mention to Cotton, their adorable puppy, and the lovely chechis and chetan who work there. Their warmth and friendliness make the space feel alive and comforting. One of the highlights of my stay was the late-night conversations and rides with Mr. Sagar. Those moments were deeply meaningful and are memories I’ll always carry. They added a personal, soulful layer to the entire experience. Another beautiful offering is the complimentary morning yoga sessions at 7 AM, conducted by Mr. Prajan. His approach is gentle, attentive, and inclusive, making everyone feel comfortable and cared for during the practice. And the poojas being done every day you can feel a divine spritual positivity around the property The complimentary breakfast at Tara Loka deserves its own spotlight. The food is truly out of this world. Freshly prepared puttu, appam, kadala curry, mixed vegetable curry. Every meal feels homemade, soulful, and nourishing. Their in-house restaurant serves food that is far more tasteful and satisfying than many other restaurants in Varkala. There’s a simplicity and authenticity in the cooking that makes each bite memorable. A special recommendation: ghee rice with veg curry. It’s comfort food elevated to something unforgettable.
